Is There Nothing Better?
For as long as anyone can remember, this is the way things have always been. The elite live in lavish homes high over the city, near the central citidel, the poor live down in the slums. And the tall city walls keep everyone safe, keep the outside dangers at bay. No one leaves, no one enters. From Horizon to Horizon, there is nothing to see but bare dirt. A dark cloud hangs high over head, blocking out the sun. The days light barely as bright as a clear night with a full moon. The nights as black as the abyss.
